Over 700 flywheel horsepower was measured (and backed up) on chassis dyno with 001 Super Snake by JBA Performance technicians with 17.6 lbs of boost. Our mission from Gary Patterson at Shelby Automobiles, “Create a bolt on option to take the Super Snake to over 800 horsepower without an increase in boost.” Mission accepted: JBA Performance Center in San Diego, California added a set of 1 ¾” JBA GT500 Long Tube “Fire cone” Off Road headers (PN6695SJS), a new JBA MidX-Pipe with High Flow Cats and mated it to the existing 3” JBA Super Snake 700 Exhaust system. On the 16 th of October JBA rolled the serpent back onto the dyno rollers once again for a comparison between the 700 tune and a re-calibration by JBA. They confirmed an additional 10% power gain at the flywheel by measuring an outstanding 674 rear wheel hp with 17.6 lbs of boost. “
JBA has been racing and tuning Shelby Mustangs since the 70’s and this car finally answers the famous question asked by former Shelby American team driver Mark Donahoue. “When do you have enough Horsepower?” Now that the Super Snake 700 leaves; “Black marks on a straight from the time you turn out of a corner until the breaking point of the next turn! Then you have enough horsepower.” “ Mark Donahoue’s answer is finally fulfilled,” Says Bittle. |
