Classic surf wagon on the outside, John Casey’s 1950 Ford Woodie has a JBA-installed modern drivetrain on the inside featuring a 5.0L EFI engine, automatic transmission with overdrive, 8.8” rearend and independent front suspension The JBA-built restomod 1950 Ford Woodie looks pretty stock on the outside but conceals a modern drivetrain With the engine management capabilities of a late-model Mustang with electronic fuel injection, the 1950 Ford Woodie offers state-of-the-art driveability For some reason, the JBA-transplanted fuel injected 5.0L Mustang engine doesn’t look out of place when you pop the hood of the 1950 Woodie
The 5.0L 302 fits quite well in the Woodie’s engine compartment. A serpentine belt drives the accessories The ol’ Woodie shoebox turns easily with the JBA-installed late-model power rack and pinion steering The large engine department provided plenty of space for JBA to install the 5.0L Mustang engine, especially with the upgraded Fatman Fabrications independent front suspension The serpentine belt also turns a late-model alternator to provide plenty of spark for the 1950 Ford Woodie
Cast aluminum Ford Racing valve covers and JBA shorty headers enhance the looks and performance of John Casey’s 1950 Ford Woodie restomod
